YOUR writing scheduLE AND TIMELINE TO DISSERTATION DEFENSE
YOUR WRITING DOCUMENTS:
Following our January 12 meeting, spend time revising your dissertation timeline to completion and your task-based outline. These are due to your IUPLR Director and IUPLR staff no later than February 1. They will expect to receive these updates, as required by the fellowship program.
Over winter break, you may have paused writing. As you return to your writing, you'll need to set realistic and achievable goals for completing your dissertation.
Determining your defense date is crucial to revising your timeline. Schedule a meeting with your dissertation chair(s) ASAP to make sure your timeline is clearly communicated.
Be sure to check our home department and institution's deadlines for filing dissertations and applying for graduation. These will vary, depending on which university you attend.
YOUR WRITING SCHEDULE:
While job market activities may lessen during the spring, this semester will require a rededication to your dissertation writing practice.
Plan to write at least four days per week.
Your task-based outline will help you determine how much you need to work each workday. Keep in mind that most of us underestimate how much time a writing task takes.

Writers: Your drafts are due to your Draft folder by Thursday, February 9.
Respondents: Your feedback must be returned to the writer's Reviewed folder by Thursday, February 16.

Our shared Google Drive Peer Review folder contains:
1) specific instructions on the peer review process
2) the schedule for submitting and reviewing writing
3) individual peer review folders with subfolders labelled
"Drafts" and "Reviewed."
UPDATE YOUR DIRECTOR AND
Send your updated dissertation outlines and timelines to your IUPLR Director by February 1.
