NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER

01

Write every day (with at least one or two days off a week) for at least thirty minutes and no longer than four hours on most days. Dedicate time to writing in your weekly schedule and protect that time from other responsibilities (and distractions).

Maintaining your writing practice will continue to be challenging as you manage your job market activities, but making time to write is crucial, especially as we reach the halfway point in the fellowship year. This may require you to rededicate yourself to your writing practice.

Your Timeline to Completion and Task-Based Dissertation Plan will help you keep your long-term goals in focus.

LOOKING BACK AND FUTURE PLANS

Review your reflections from past months and reflect on your writing process from the start of the fellowship until now. Then, write about how you plan to write for the second half of the fellowship given any changes to your plan. Will your writing routine change or stay the same?

PLANNING DOCUMENTS

Revise your Timeline to Completion and Task-Based Dissertation Plan. Your updates should account for progress made in November and adjustments needed to accomplish your goals in the second half of the fellowship.

UPDATE OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR AND YOUR IUPLR DIRECTOR:

Send an update via email to the IUPLR Director at your home institution by November 15.

They will expect fellows to email them by this date. Your update needs to include your revised Timeline to Completion, including an anticipated date for your dissertation defense, and your Task-Based Dissertation Plan.

In your email to your IUPLR Director, please cc Deanna Ledezma, Marina Álvarez, and Nena Torres (torresma@uic.edu).
